Specific Conductance

Definition:

Specific Conductance is a coolant's ability to resist carrying an electrical current between dissimilar metals. Excessive levels can be due to improper source water, high metal corrosion or over-treatment with SCAs.

Standard Test Method Used:

POLARIS Laboratories® Method - Conductivity/TDS Meter Measurement

Reporting Measurement:

microSiemens, µS

Amount of Sample Needed:

50 mL

Test Limitation:

Overly concentrated in-service coolants will give false readings. Petroleum contamination can affect results.
