Soot
Definition:
Soot is also reported in % of volume and can indicate reduced combustion efficiency. Soot can be caused by over-fueling, air restrictions, blow-by, excessive engine brake use and/or excessive exhaust backpressure.

Wilks Soot Meter
Reporting Measurement:
% of mass
Amount of Sample Needed:
40 mL
Test Limitation:
Saturation is possible - should confirm by Wilks Soot Meter, which only looks at soot frequency - accurate up to 10% soot.
