Possible Sources:

  • Rotary Compressors: Additive common in engine oil, some gear oils

  • Turbines / Centrifugal Compressors: Additive common in engine oil, some gear oils, Note: Turbine oils do not typically contain metallic additives

  • Hydraulics: Additive common in engine oil, some gear oils

  • Reciprocating Engines: Additive common in engine oil, some gear oils

  • Transmissions: Additive common in engine oil, some gear oils and Dexron Fluids

Magnesium (Mg)

Possible Sources:

  • Reciprocating Compressors: Detergent / Dispersant Additive, Alloy, Environmental Contaminant

  • Rotary Compressors: Not Common in Rotary Screw Compressor Oils, Detergent / Dispersant Additive, Alloy, Environmental Contaminant

  • Turbines / Centrifugal Compressors: Detergent / Dispersant Additive, Alloy, Environmental Contaminant; Note: Turbine oils do not typically contain metallic additives

  • Hydraulics: Detergent / Dispersant Additive, Alloy, Environmental Contaminant

  • Reciprocating Engines: Detergent / Dispersant Additive, Alloy, Environmental Contaminant
