Acid Split
Definition:
Acid Split is a measure of the total oil found in a water-based metalworking fluid. Concentrated sulfuric acid is added to 40mL of sample and shaken. The oil and water will separate into layers after several hours of sitting. The amount of oil is read and its value multiplied by the acid split factor for the fluid to get total oil concentration percent.
