POLARIS Laboratories®' Environmental Responsibility in 2009

Did you know that in 2009 POLARIS Laboratories® Indianapolis recycled:

  • 9,735 gallons of hazardous waste. The waste was reclaimed and used as wash thinner.
  • 1,155 gallons of antifreeze. The antifreeze is used and distributed as 50/50 pre mix.
  • 7,650 gallons of used oil. The used oil is used for asphalt or gas oil for refineries.
  • 24,000 lbs of cardboard. The cardboard is used to make other cardboard products and saves energy over virgin pulp.
  • 4,500 lbs of paper.
  • 18,000 Lbs of plastic.
  • 1,400 lbs of aluminum cans.

The amount of cardboard we recycled saved:

  • 204 Trees
  • 84,000 gallons of water
  • 5,544 gallons of oil

The amount of paper we recycled saved:

  • 34 Trees
  • 8,200 kWh of energy (enough to power one average us home for a year)
  • 14,000 gallons of water
  • 160 gallons of oil

The amount of plastic we recycled saved:

  • 51,966 kWh of energy (enough to power 6 average us homes for a year)
  • 6,164 gallons of oil
  • 13,500 gallons of gasoline

The amount of aluminum cans we recycled saved:

  • 700 kWh of energy (enough to power four 60 watt light bulbs for one year)
  • 840 gallons of oil
